Therapy

Therapy is time set aside by you and the therapist to look at what has brought you to therapy. This may include talking about life events (past and present), feelings, emotions, relationships, ways of thinking and patterns of behaviour.

I will do my best to help you to look at your issues and identify the right course of action for you, either to help you resolve your difficulties or help you find ways of coping.

Talking about these things may take time, and will not necessarily all be included in one session. The number of sessions offered may be limited, so it is best to ask about this in advance. For example, brief therapy or short term therapy might provide a maximum of 6, 8, 12 or 16 sessions.

There are a number of types of therapy available to you. For example, Psychoanalytical, Psychodynamic and Hypnotherapy approaches. In addition, Humanistic Therapies involving Existential, Gestalt, Solution-Focused and Transactional Analysis. You may also feel you need therapy, involving members of your family.

Eating Disorders

Food is one of the many mediums through which our emotions and distress can be expressed, so you may have a very difficult relationship with food which impacts on your mental health, but doesn't fit into any of the current categories of diagnosis. It's also possible to experience more than one eating disorder, or to experience some symptoms from each disorder.

Life throws many surprises at us, and while we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take control of how we respond to certain situations. With my coaching sessions, you’ll learn about acceptance and how to exert your power of choice over whatever life may throw at you.

CBT

Behavioural therapies are based on the way you think (cognitive) and/or the way you behave. These therapies recognise that it is possible to change or recondition our thoughts or behaviour to overcome specific problems.

This can involve Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Behavioural Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Cognitive Therapy

This service is a favourite among many of my clients, as it is often times one of the keys to a happier, healthier life. My job is to give you the tools and techniques to achieve a balanced and fulfilling lifestyle. After several sessions, you will become well-versed at handling issues whenever and wherever they arise. Spirituality

This therapy involves Transpersonal psychology which looks ‘beyond the personal’ and seeks to discover the person who transcends an individual's body, age, appearance, culture etc.

It involves a mindfulness and visualisation based approach to issues of concern and can draw upon a shamanic approach.

I offer a bespoke service to design courses to meet your needs and deliver them effectively. For example, CPD courses on counselling and psychotherapy, professional issues and work-based managerial approaches - such as mental health issues for managers etc.

Clinical Supervision

At the most basic of levels, supervision means to oversee another individual. I establish this by providing a safe environment that allows the supervisees to be vulnerable and to grow through learning about themselves and themselves as professional counsellors, leaving them feeling free to disclose areas of difficulty and/or dilemmas within their clinical practice.         

Being a clinical supervisor for the past twenty years has been rewarding and insightful. There is still much more to be experienced and much more to learn during this process.
